Privacy Policy

BGA Assistant is a browser extension that helps players keep track of game state on Board Game Arena. This policy explains how the extension handles your data.

Data collection

BGA Assistant does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There are no analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind. The extension does not make network requests to any servers other than boardgamearena.com (which your browser already connects to when playing).

How the extension works

• The extension reads game log data from BGA pages you visit using host permissions (boardgamearena.com).
• All processing happens locally in your browser — game state is computed on your device and never sent anywhere.
• Display preferences (such as section visibility and toggle states) are saved in your browser’s localStorage and never leave your device. The in-page game log’s settings are saved in chrome.storage.local, also local to your browser, because they are shared between the side panel and the extension’s background worker.
• When the optional in-page game log is enabled for Innovation, the extension adds its own turn-history panel to the BGA page and hides BGA’s log display. This changes only what you see; nothing is sent anywhere, and turning the option off restores the page.
• When the optional simplified cards option is enabled for Innovation, the extension restyles the cards on the BGA table and adjusts the sizes the page lays them out at. With its opponents’-hands sub-option it also draws what it has deduced about those hands — a card’s likely identities and how many remain — onto the face-down cards. Everything drawn there was computed on your device from the game log BGA already showed you; nothing is sent anywhere, and turning the option off restores the page.
• When the optional pinned player panels option is enabled, the extension keeps the top of BGA’s right column in place while the board scrolls. This changes only what you see; nothing is sent anywhere, and turning the option off restores the page.
• When the optional compact header option is enabled, the extension moves BGA’s own header elements into a single row and trims the bar around them. Nothing is copied or re-rendered — BGA keeps updating its own elements — and turning the option off puts every element back where BGA had it.
• When the optional compact player panels option is enabled for Nucleum, the extension restyles BGA’s own player panels so their resource counters fold onto one line. This changes only what you see; nothing is sent anywhere, and turning the option off restores the page.
• When the optional police-line highlight is enabled for Innovation, the extension reads whose turn it is from the game page’s own live state and stripes BGA’s top bar while you must act during another player’s turn. That reading happens on your device and stays there; nothing is sent anywhere, and turning the option off restores the page.

Third-party services

BGA Assistant does not communicate with any third-party services. All fonts and assets are bundled with the extension.
